Our mission

Let agents run performance marketing and keep marketers in the loop, with the craft of engineering

Our vision

At PME.org, we’re building the yes between “the agent proposes” and “the money moves”.

Ad platforms automated the bidding, targeting and delivery. Now agents are automating the work around them: reading the spend, drafting the creative, fixing the tracking, proposing the budget. Soon most of performance marketing will run without anyone clicking a button.

That makes one person more valuable, not less: the one who decides what the agents are allowed to do. The Performance Marketing Engineer designs the agents, writes their limits, reads their evidence and approves every move that touches money, brand or data. PME.org gives that work a name, a standard and a way to hire for it.

But a standard is more than a definition; it is a community. Practitioners challenge it, hiring managers test it, educators teach it. We are not here to replace the performance marketer with agents. We are here to make sure there is always a person in the loop who knows what good looks like.

Together, we’re making performance marketing autonomous where it should be and human where it matters. One proposal, one approval, one logged decision at a time.

How the work splits

Agents run the routine. People own the judgement.

Agents run

Everything that repeats.
  • 01Read spend against revenue and margin, every morning
  • 02Build variants from winners, in every size, on brand
  • 03Send qualified conversions back to the platforms
  • 04Check pages, tags and consent, and flag what broke
  • 05Draft the weekly test readout and the next proposal

Humans approve

Everything that matters.
  • 01Every move that touches money: budget, bids, spend
  • 02What counts as a conversion, and what is sent where
  • 03What the brand will and won’t say
  • 04Which tests are worth the budget, and when they end
  • 05How much autonomy each agent gets, and when it loses it

Agents propose with evidence. People approve, reject or undo. Every decision is logged.

Manifesto

Agents run it. Humans approve it.

An open standard for the people in the loop: agents for creative, decisions and signal, with a person approving every move that touches money, brand or data.

Agents do. You decide.

The platform runs the auction. Agents run the loop around it. The PME sits at the one point that matters: the approval between a proposal and the money.

01Agents read

The ledger is ready before you are: spend next to real revenue and margin, boundaries stated.

02You approve

Budget moves proposed inside limits you set. Nothing touches money without a yes, and every yes is logged and reversible.

03Agents create

Variants built overnight from winners, brand-checked, queued for your review on the ad and the page together.

04Agents learn

Qualified outcomes sent back to the platforms, and every rejected proposal teaches the agent too.

Give agents the work. Keep the yes.

Levels of autonomy

Autonomy has levels, a bit like self-driving cars. At one end someone changes bids by hand; at the other, agents run with nobody watching. The standard aims for the level that compounds: agents do the work, a person approves the moves.

  • L1

Manual. Buttons in each platform, reports by hand. Helpful, but nothing compounds.

  • L3

Agents + approval. Agents propose with evidence; a person approves money, brand and data changes. The level the standard recommends.

  • L5

Unattended. No person in the loop. The standard will happily talk you out of it.

Try it in the desk above: switch to L4 or L5 and watch what stops waiting for you.

Seventy-five years, three moments.

1947The simplex method

Linear programs become solvable. Marketing starts to be modelled.

1970Decision calculus

Models that managers will actually use.

2026Agents, with a human in the loop

The machine runs the routine. A person owns the call.
